What is a pterygoid implant and when is it used?

What is the difference between a basal implant and a standard implant?

Internal hex dental implants in spiral, tapered and narrow designs, built on the most widely used implant connection in the world. The internal hex gives a secure anti-rotation fit and is supported by a very broad range of compatible abutments and prosthetic parts.

Tapered, self-tapping designs give good primary stability in soft bone and suit immediate placement. Narrow implants are used where the ridge is thin or space between teeth is limited, such as lateral incisors and lower anteriors.
