Lab Instruments & Burs

Instruments, burs and brushes for the dental laboratory bench, covering gross reduction, trimming, contouring and finishing across acrylic, metal, ceramic and zirconia. Cutting instruments in the lab are chosen by the material they are meant for, because using a bur on the wrong substrate clogs it, overheats the work and shortens its life dramatically.

Carbide burs. Tungsten carbide cutters for acrylic, metal framework trimming and denture adjustment, in cross-cut and fine-cut patterns. Cross-cut removes bulk quickly, fine-cut leaves a surface that needs less polishing afterwards.

Diamond instruments. For ceramic and zirconia, where a carbide would not survive. Grit is stepped down through the sequence rather than jumping straight to a fine finish.

Brushes. Natural bristle and synthetic brushes for ceramic build-up and for polishing, in the shapes used for layering and for reaching interproximal areas.

Hand instruments. Wax knives, carvers, spatulas and burnishers for modelling and finishing at the bench.

Shank types. HP for straight handpieces and RA latch-type for contra-angles. Check which your micromotor takes before ordering a set.
