Gutta percha cutters for trimming obturation material at the canal orifice after filling. A clean cut leaves a neat floor for the coronal seal and the final restoration.

Heated cutters sever the gutta percha and lightly soften it, so it can be compacted vertically at the orifice straight after cutting.

Remove the gutta percha slightly below the orifice to leave room for a sealing layer over the canal entrance.
