DIP ORC is used in surgical practice as an additional means to stop capillary, venous, and minor arterial bleeding. It is used when ligation and other conventional methods of achieving hemostasis are ineffective or dangerous.
It can be cut with sterile scissors. It should be applied under pressure directly to the bleeding surface. The amount of the DIP ORC and the time of exposure to pressure is determined by the type and amount of bleeding. DIP ORC is absorbed after implantation, so it can be left in the wound.
DIP ORC has a lightweight, layered structure that “melts” into bleeding tissue creating a gel from a hemostasis clot.
Due to its low pH, DIP ORC changes the structure of albumin and blood globulin, which contributes to the onset of hemostasis. Glucose copolymers undergo hydrolysis and are completely absorbed after 7-14 days under the influence of body fluids.
